Hi, I’m Carly…
I joined the RAF in 1998 at the age of 16 as a chef. While in the RAF, I served in places such as Kosovo, Kuwait, Afghanistan, Kenya and Northern Ireland.
I left the RAF in 2012 and, after completing a hospitality management course through the career transition partnership (CTP), I applied for an external manager position at Wetherspoon – and was successful.
I started my new career at a new opening – The Frank Hornby (Maghull).
I continued to work in several of the local pubs in the Merseyside area, including two more new openings at The Lifeboat (Formby) and The Court Leet (Ormskirk).
In 2016, while still employed at Wetherspoon, I Joined the RAF Reserves. Since being in the Reserves, I have completed two tours of the Falkland Islands, three short tours to Cyprus and a staff ride to Normandy. All of this was fully supported by Wetherspoon.
In 2020, while out in the Falklands, I met my current partner.
In 2021, I applied for a people operations role at head office and was successful, enabling me to relocate to Lincolnshire and move in with my partner.
In 2022, we had a little girl called Keira and are currently on shared parental leave, which is amazing! I do a lot of work from home, while my partner is also there to look after the baby.
